Civilization has been a big part of my gaming experience throughout the years. Ever since it launched in 1991 I have been missing sleep because of it. Just… One… More… Turn… But the latest installment took a turn I didn’t expect.
A vast scope and unique gameplay
In the Civilization series of games, the player takes on the role of a ruler of a particular civilization. You, as the leader of your people, get to build and expand your empire. In the game, the only way of winning I ever considered was to dominate the world and wipe out all opposition. The other way to win is to win the space race. I’m sure I tried, but this didn’t hold any appeal for me. To this day I am proud of my greatest achievement: a 183% approval rating on Emperor difficulty.
The Civilization series has evolved over the years. Shiny new graphics and more layers of complexity. New ways to win were also added. In addition to the world domination and space race, you could also win by having amazing culture or high levels of diplomacy, like…
