I could keep on writing indie spotlights all the time, but this is a suitable way to wind up this particular collaboration among the writers of SUPERJUMP. This definitely falls in the group of games that deserve more notoriety and coverage: Monolith by Team D-13.

Shmup-Rogue

The combination of roguelike elements in games has been something I’ve talked about a lot over the years and in my last book. One of the areas that haven’t seen a lot of discussions is combining bullet hell, or shmups, with roguelike design. There have been developers who have experimented with the design, and these games either have levels that are very sparse with a few random elements or set levels with areas set up for some RNG (Random Number Generation).

But the idea of building a dodge-focused shooter with the procedural nature of roguelikes is harder to come by — with the previous top example being Enter the Gungeon by Dodge Roll.
