A new Dark World means more story in the spiritual successor to Undertale
No one ever expects a little videogame to become a part of your narrative. It can be as simple as using it for your first stream so that you realize that you enjoy sharing a connection. Other times, it can be when you are waiting on the second part of a story, feeling that part one was not the end. With a single game, reaching the end can feel like an accomplishment. For chapter installments, you remain hungry.
Deltarune is a companion to the game Undertale. It’s not a sequel in the sense that it carries the same continuity. The same characters are there, in a parallel universe, and they pave the way for new worlds and challenges. Chapter One introduced people to the changed rules, some new concepts, and the hints that perhaps things aren’t as similar as they seem. It also allowed people to walk faster through the game.
Toby Fox surprised Undertale fans on the 2021 anniversary stream, which was on September 15. While not appearing “in-person,” Annoying Dog did reveal that Chapter Two was done. What’s more, his team would release it that same Friday…
