Nintendo’s 7th foray into the home console market — The Switch — is a juggernaut in terms of sales and incredible releases. Like the Wii before it (we don’t talk about the Wii U), something about the Nintendo Switch’s approach to accessibility makes it appeal to casual players and hardcore gamers alike.

The excellent and easy portability of the console make it an easy choice for those who lack the time or resources to couch game or sit at a PC for extended periods, along with the simple TV docking capability granting the Switch the status of “home console.” This portability idea proved so fruitful that Steam decided to ape it in their iteration of the Steam Deck; a powerful portable PC with a striking resemblance to Nintendo’s little console that could (albeit a litter thicker through the middle).
