There are still so many reasons to enjoy Sony’s ambitious portable console

When I first bought Sony’s PlayStation Vita back in October 2013, I was thrilled! I was happier compared to when I bought the PS2 and even the PS3. This is because I’m a huge gamer on-the-go. I had the PSP and it went everywhere with me. So when Sony announced its replacement — the Vita — I was super excited.

As much as I love my gaming consoles, I just love a portable one even more. Especially when I can play some of my favourite games anywhere I go.

However, the Vita didn’t quite live up to its hype or its potential as many had hoped it would and this is probably down to the fact Sony made it nearly impossible for it to do so. Where the Nintendo Switch uses the conventional Micro SD memory cards, Sony uses a proprietary memory card which is super expensive. You could literally buy a few games for a 32GB one and a 64GB one costs almost the same as the Vita itself!

Needless to say, the biggest issue the Vita had was its memory card. That and aside from a few memorable games (Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Persona 4 Golden, etc…), there weren’t much to shout about with the Vita.
