Just before the start of Destiny 2’s latest season, I had a Twitter conversation with some good friends. In this conversation, each person shared thoughts on upcoming gameplay and narrative features they want to see in Destiny 2’s Season Of The Chosen. We broke down elements each person felt excited about and thought could bring change to the current player experience.

But something had been on my mind. As I engaged in conversation I thought about the planets and whether Earth was the only planet we could expect to see an invasion from the Cabal. Of course in my original analysis, I had missed some major points so here is a short breakdown of what to expect.

Earth. Source: YouTube.

1. Earth

So far we have seen a lot of images of the Cabal Warships above the Cosmodrome, which is integral to the new BattleGrounds Activity being added this season. “The fallout from the failed treaty has resulted in Cabal forces taking up arms on multiple destinations,” reads the flavor text for BattleGrounds.

This is a major clue! Multiple destinations suggest the Empress’ intent to take over or capture locations across Earth.

2. Nessus

The (centaur) Nessus, is back on the table and it looks like this Cabal tank (yes, an actual living tank) has crashed into what looks like new Vex ruins and another fragment of the Exodus Black Colony Ship which crash-landed on the planet due to unknown reasons.

I recently covered planet Nessus in another article sharing ideas on further narrative development fueled by SIVA and Failsafe’s (the ship’s AI) attempt to access the SIVA chamber. But from the screenshot above, it looks like the Cabal want a slice of the pie. Right now the Fallen & Vex reside here so I imagine things will get interesting quickly! More story, yes?

3. Europa

You guessed it, Europa is also on the list. This moon was the main focus for much of the Beyond Light expansion. Now that the Cabal is making itself at home, I wonder how the local Vex and Fallen will feel about it?

In the background of this screenshot, you can see what looks like a Pyramidion. I’m wondering if this will initiate the return of the Vault of Glass raid? Maybe but we’ll have to wait and find out. I can only imagine the horrors of the Cabal getting their hands on Clovis Bray's technology and surely the Stranger — Elsie Bray will have something to say about this. Was this part of her dark future prediction?

4. Dreaming City

Finally, there’s the Dreaming City. This is a big one with the potential for three storylines brewing at once. In this screenshot from Season of The Hunt, we can see a Darkness Crux in the background but we know Hive Cryptolith is located in the Dreaming City.

Bonus location: EDZ

So I’m wrapping this up with an honorable mention and it’s the EDZ. There is already a major Cabal presence on Earth, which is technically leaderless since Ghaul and his lieutenant are deceased. This makes room for new leadership. This also explains why Bungie opted to keep Firebase Hades and the Sunken Isles after the Destiny Content Vault was introduced with Beyond Light.
