Although iPad is the best device if you are aiming for the highest quality digital artwork, it doesn’t mean you can’t draw with iPhone.

Here are some cases for iPhone drawing

  • You always have it with you. It’s like iPhone camera vs DSLR/professional camera. Sure the latter is better, but sometimes beautiful scenes/ideas don’t last. You might just want to use whatever tool you have right now.
  • You don’t need a desk. It’s easier to use one hand to hold the phone and draw with the other. Harder with the heavier tablet.
  • You won’t shoot for perfection. Less pressure and more exploration. Now you can try different casual styles.
  • Usually, you have all your social apps on your phone, so that you can quickly send it to your friends with Snapchat, Instagram, Whatsapp, Wechat, or whatever.

In such cases, fast is the key. And Super Simple Draw is optimized for that.

But what if you don’t like finger drawing? Sure, and there are still some decent styluses for phones. My personal favorite is something like this. And since they are low tech (or no tech), so they are cheap and I usually buy a bunch and have one at work, one in my pocket, one at home, etc.

Also, often times I use iPhone for jotting down some quick notes, brainstorming random ideas, or just impromptu illustrating something to others. With the agility and flexibility of Super Simple Draw, I can easily copy and paste it into another app, or share to someone else through message or email.

Some quick drawing from my iPhone, while writing this post (of course far from picture perfect, but rather just for fun):
