Gratitude is one among the most important emotions which God has rewarded to humanity. Gratitude is exactly what we are feeling now. We are so thankful to all our BetaPage members for being an important part of BetaPage family, for making it a community and for demanding and pushing us to make it better. It’s great to have you all with us.

In this post, I m going to share a very brief journey of BetaPage and then evolvement and features of BetaPage 2.0

We started this journey almost 16 months ago. At that time we just wanted to launch it with the sole aim to avail true feedback of early adopters to the founders about their products, so we just wanted to bridge the gap between innovation seekers and innovators.

We just made it in a few hours and launched very beta-ish version of BetaPage because we never knew, what would be the response of users, and we firmly believe in the process of lean startup. But to our surprise, the response was more than what we expected. We received 550+ upvotes on product hunt. We received not only huge response but loads of love from the community.

As the journey forwarded users demanded to open BetaPage for all stages of a product/startup (Not only beta). Although it was admittedly confusing for us to open BetaPage for live projects also but we did it instead of going against the wishes of the community. So BetaPage was no longer a portal for Beta projects only.

We started to receive feedback from users to introduce more features in BetaPage as they all wanted it to be more engaging, more dynamic and more useful and we were already thinking to start work on Betapge 2.0. So we conducted a mass survey and emailed a detailed feedback form to all users, what we received in response was a huge pile of work. Although some users were in love with the current version due to its simplicity then too change is inevitable especially in our world (technology)

I want to share the new features of BetaPage2.0, but I am doing so while responding to the questions and suggestions we received in the feedback form. Here are the responses of our feedback form (I am using the exact language) and what we did.

BetaPage User: Sometimes I don’t find the products of my interest on the home page.

We: Right! We have enlarged our spectrum now. One can submit all types of startups/products like Saas, mobile apps, Chrome extensions, GitHub projects, indie hacker projects, IOT, AI based projects, innovative hardware, and software, etc. Startup/products that are out of the Beta Phase and already live; they all are accepted in BetaPage 2.0 the new version. So now I am sure you will definitely find the products which interest you.

BetaPage User: I am tired of your long review process, 2–3 months to upload? Come on…

We: It’s seriously irritating, we accept it. It was due to queue, but there will be no review process in BetaPage 2.0. Startups will be published instantly. Let the community decide about the quality of a startup and its position on the homepage.

User: Exclusive twitter login?

We: Now you can login via twitter/facebook/linkedin/ and Google, and we have made an exclusive Github login for Github users to submit their projects.

User: terrible search algorithm……..

We: Ouchie! Sorry, but try our search box now you would love it.

User: Why can’t I connect with other users like I do on other platforms?

We: We have introduced new features for that; now you can maintain you profile better. You can follow other founders and VCs and can check their submission and upvoted startups, and we will soon introduce chatting option.

User: Why can’t I see my upvoted startup? It should be there; it works like bookmarks for me.

We: Not only yours now you will be able to see the list of startups upvoted by other users also. (Although you can keep it private if you don’t want to show it to others)

User: I couldn’t upload my product video when I submitted my startup.

We: Yup! BetaPage was too beta-ish back then. You can now upload Video/Gif/multiple images.

User: Why don’t you accept the URL of play stores for a mobile app? Why the URL of landing page is essential?

We: Landing page was essential in the old format of BetaPage. Now with the new version you can set the link to any platform including direct links to play store for your mobile app.

User: I like the simple view of the site, but I think you should work on the design.

We: We have made an entirely new design and you will love the new minimalistic view.

User: What is the worth of my contribution? (This question was not in FAQ responses)

We: It’s all about your Karma now. We have set 3 levels of users.

(1) Contributor: By default, everyone will be a contributor. Anybody can contribute to the platform by listing and publish any startup. Contributors can list the startup and products made by other founders also. If they receive upvotes on their submission, their karma will increase.

(2) Moderator: If you have a high karma, you will get a downvote option.

(3) Editor: With very high karma you would be able to edit the listing of other’s to make It better or error free like adding additional tags and filling some missing information etc.

To know more about karma and other functions. Please refer FAQ on BetaPage.

There were a lot more but more or less the same complaints in different words. This is what we made based on your suggestions and complaints, and we would love to hear from you about how you like it. We are eagerly waiting for your feedback about BetaPage 2.0

Thank you!!!
