Wearable Tech: Reconnecting us to a higher power
Last week in Vancouver at CVR I talked on how wearable tech will bring us closer to a higher power or God as part of my keynote on “Wearable Tech & Our Human Evolution”.
Here are just a few of my thoughts from the talk.
We are One
Wearables will show us that we are something bigger than ourselves and that we are all one. Devices like PixMob which light up our wrists all at the same time in concerts is just one example on how wearables can show us that we are connected. But perhaps the most powerful example is in the crowdsourcing of our wearable data which will prove that together we will be able to cure diseases, solve city problems and literally change the world.
2. Questioning Reality
VR and AR are technologies that play with our perception. As we spend more time in these new realities this will cause us to question how real this “reality” is and will change the way we perceive this “real world”. This includes the social norms and stories that we have been believing up until now. Everything “real” is on the table as we have the ability to experience other realities.
3. God Mode
One superpower of AR/VR is the ability to create something almost instantaneously. In AR I can change the color of the walls in my house with a voice command. In VR I can create buildings, worlds and even new species with just a line of code. As we ourselves realize our god-like capabilities, how will this change our relationship with a higher power. And furthermore how will this change what we believe is our own creation story.
4. Shift in Dimension
One of the biggest underlying shifts in technology right now is the shift from 2D to 3D. We have been working, playing, creating in 2D for the most part (pen to paper, screens, mouses, keyboards) and with AR/VR and IoT we are moving computing to a new dimension. But could this shift in dimension in tech cause a shift in dimension for ourselves. We have been experiencing life in 3D. Could mastering 3D completely push us into the 4th dimension. Will we begin to have a much different understanding of time and duration? As tech is preparing for its big shift from 2D to 3D, the spiritual world has been discussing a huge shift of its own coming up — the ascension — are these two linked?
