Rolling through the data
This month, three indicators were committed to the repository by quantum8: Hurst Channel Oscillator, LW Proxy, and Trend Direction Force Index. These indicators can be found in the “Undulated” data mine.
Hurst Channel Oscillator
The Hurst Channel oscillator, originally created by J.M. Hurst attempts to identify oversold and overbought market zones.
The Hurst oscillator can be treated like any other oscillator where a crossover of the fast signal with the slow signal is a potential entry point. Oscillator divergences can also be used to spot potential reversals.
LW Proxy
The Larry Williams as explained in his book “Trade Stocks and Commodities with the Insiders: Secrets of the COT Report”. It is an inverse oscillator that attempts to identify trend reversals.
Since this indicator is an inverse indicator, potential entry points are found when the oscillator goes below zero from above, and sell indications when the oscillator rises above zero.
The indicator can also be used to spot divergences with the price action, therefore signalling a potential reversal.
Trend Direction Force Index
The Trend Direction Force Index (TDFI) originally by Pyotr Wojdyo for the metastock trading platform, uses the idea that there is enough trend directional force to enter a trade.
The indicator’s output will show green values above the filter threshold for an upward trend direction, and red values below the filter threshold for a downward trend. Between the threshold values, the indicator’s output will be grey.
