ALIEN: COVENANT trailer bursts out on Christmas Day

Yep, this is an ALIEN film

I kinda liked PROMETHEUS. Sure it has some plot problems (and character choices that make no sense), but it’s a bold film. We always knew we would get another prequel to ALIEN, the question was if it was going to be PROMETHEUS 2, or ALIEN 0.

After an almost comical amount of teaser images, FOX gives us a pretty solid answer on Christmas Day.

Billy Crudup is not surviving the film.

We have a Xenomorph, we have a face hugger, we have horror-tropes that harken back to the series we all know.

In PROMETHEUS, Michael Fassbenders David was the most interesting character, the one that felt real. He is back, and from the glimpses we see we can infer that he has been up to no good after his cosmic trip with Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth (unsure if we will see her alive in this).

With the casting of Danny McBride, I knew that Ridley Scott was looking for the blue collar worker character that he had in the original. It seems like my thoughts are proving correct here, and he might be surviving quite a way through the film.

We have a shower scene which will stay the talking point until it’s release next year, and assurances that certain characters will not last that long.

I am hopeful that this will improve on what we saw in PROMETHEUS, and will actually answer some questions I have to do with the series. The main one being, ‘Why was Ash so fascinated by the engineering of the facehugger?’

ALIEN: COVENANT will be released 19th May 2017
