SuperDAO Platform Readjustment: Strategic Errors & Pivoting Just In Time To Avoid Disaster
“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”
― Albert Einstein
As early adopters of the beloved Ethereum world computer, it was exciting watching, learning and evolving with every technical upgrade to our Ethereum global truth ledger. However, an arguably controversial change to the ledger sent us down the path of disillusionment seeking refuge with the remnants that is it’s brother : Ethereum Classic. Unfortunately, the community behind the vision and technical robustness was a mirage. It is clear that Ethereum Classic doesn’t have the appetite or resources to support us at the pace we want to grow and iterate at the moment. At least for now, Ethereum Classic needs time to grow and catch up to the community composition and expertise of the non-Classic chain to be able to support more projects going forward. In light of this, the SuperDAO team will be rejoining the community we grew with ETH. Despite having to admit our misstep, we are all excited about the pivot and the opportunities it offers. As always, our focus is doing what’s in the best interest for safeguarding the organization and maximizing it’s integration with the visionary Ethereum blockchain community.
Brief History of SuperDAO
Dating back to early 2013, the SuperDAO project came about as a solution on how to efficiently manage a decentralized poker project; Pokereum, With a fully decentralized organization that abolishes the traditional top down control/hierarchy, SuperDAO aims to harness the power and wisdom of the crowd. In the research and development process, both the “DAO” and “DAPP” had undergone branding and platform changes. Platform-wise, we moved from the NXT platform [which had an unfulfilled roadmap for smart contracts] to Ethereum [an EVM-capable blockchain]. This offered P2P messaging, decentralized storage, and a utopian web 3.0 vision that fit our needs splendidly.
The Pokereum DAO became SuperDAO with a bigger vision for an efficiently effective Multi - DAPP DAO. Likewise Nxtpoker became Pokereum with the user experience matching the technical advantages explain by some media outlets . We had no idea we would be considering yet another change, we had least tried but now we are over it, and we are back :)
ETC As refuge and Initial findings
Initially, we were quite excited to engage the classic community and help galvanize its members with incentives to build missing tools set that would foster a similar environment synergistic environment that Eth enjoys. However we found that several conditions limited the general community.
- The ETC Community is less focused on Dapps and more on monetary policy and mining at the present time.
- Technical support token utilities, client updates, general infrastructure to support Dapp developers is less of a focus.
- Desire to engage with and collect our bounties was surprisingly low. Otherwise this would help ETC community galvanize support for infrastructure development.
- It seems ETC has suffered from multiple debilitating cons, for most to consider any other legitimate & viable projects.
We went as far as to include our budget (with bounties) to incentivize enthusiastic participators to help build the ecosystem. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the responses we were expecting. We fully expect Ethereum Classic to ramp up again in terms of industrialism and become a successful ecosystem in it’s own right — but we don’t think it will happen within the next two quarters.

Fostering decentralized Impact based contributions
The Way forward:
- ETH the New Home for SuperDAO: While we still plan to deploy our dapps to as many prominent EVM based blockchains. ETH will be home to our DAO, but our DAPPS will be EVM Platform Agnostic.
- Possible token and reputation safeguards: We might consider adding in 95% DAO consensus “proof of burn” to our growing codebase including tokens and any reputation components as safeguards for any unforeseen future circumstances. This will be dependent on community feedback, to which we’re looking forward to hearing before our future crowdfunding.
