Airlines are always on the move for integrating new features and enhancing their workforce. To optimize existing business models, many have resorted to augmented reality solutions tending to various facets of the aviation industry.

Aircrafts, before they stretch their wings yonder above, nest on the earth. They need to be cared for, don’t they? To cater to a plane’s miscellaneous ground services, experts are involved in what is called ramp handling. These include aircraft maintenance, goods freighting, etc. However, the cat among the pigeons is human limitation in speed and perfection.

Once again, AR stepped in like the good Samaritan.

The Changi Airport in Singapore had imbibed augmented reality solutions to unfurl the best of the ramp handling team’s abilities. The staff used Vuzix M300 AR augmented reality glasses to efficiently handle the cargo process and other errands. Thus, augmented reality in aviation industries acts similarly as a vizier would to his sultan.

Although the transit sector is going through a tough phase, curses to the contagion, nevertheless, it has already scaled new heights with the inclusion of AR.

Vuzix Corps with HeadApp created Glass4Flight, an augmented reality app that simulates a virtual cockpit; whereupon using Vuzix M100 glasses, a pilot can see necessary indicators flashing and floating above the dashboard. It displays a string of information and status of the flight, among an entire gamut of particulars.

It might startle a few, but this application dates back to 2015. AR has been around for a long time, more than one can imagine.

The aviation industry has incorporated AR seamlessly for various activities and reaped its multitude of solutions. Say the fountx. The entire model of handling complex assets has altered with this augmented reality glasses aviation has adopted for its industrial ecosystems. A combined effort by IFS Applications and TAE Aerospace in Australia had seen the fountx headset emerge as a sentinel in data collection. It acts as a virtual prosthetic in assistance and works diligently in clustered, remote spaces.

The scope of augmented reality in aviation is limitless, as endless as the horizon viewed aerially.

AR assures:

● Accuracy

● Accessibility

● Immaculate communication

● Immersive training for pilots

● Cost-efficiency

● Less time-consumption
