GEORGIA

Movies in the Park
This month, check out a free movie in the park in Canton, Cumming, Dawsonville, and Woodstock. There are a variety of movies that take place Saturday evenings. Check out their website for specifics.

Atlanta Streets Alive
On June 10, 3.6 miles of street from Underwood Hills to Downtown will be open for foot and bike traffic and closed to cars! It’s a great opportunity to explore Atlanta with friends and family.

NORTH CAROLINA

Tuxedo Park
Pack a picnic and take the kids to play on the new playground at Tuxedo Park in Zirconia.

Bands, Bites, and Boats at Bond Park
Head to Bond Park in Cary on June 1 for a fun family-friendly evening. There will be music, food, and boats available for rent. Event takes place 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

SOUTHWEST

CALIFORNIA

Summer Nights
In June there will be a series of free outdoor concerts at various venues in Southern California called Summer Nights. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Pirate Invasion at Long Beach
Visit Long Beach for the Pirate Invasion and enjoy two days of fun pirate activities. Enjoy a treasure hunt, costume contests, kids’s zone, arts and crafts, sword fights, and much more. This free event starts June 30 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

TEXAS

Blues on the Green
Visit Zilker Park in Austin on June 13 or 18 for the free outdoor concert series Blues on the Green. This family-friendly event features great music in a relaxed park setting.

Saturdays in the Park
On Saturdays head to Smither Park in Houston to see local artists create unique mosaics throughout the park.

MIDWEST

ILLINOIS

Movies in the Park
This month spend an evening with friends or family watching a movie at one of the many parks in Chicago. From childhood favorites to recent blockbusters, there’s a wide variety of movies playing this month. Check out the full list of movies, dates, and locations. Each movie starts at dusk each day.

Run for the Zoo
Register for the Run for the Zoo event on June 3 at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. The run helps to keep the zoo open and free. Options include a 5K, 10K, and children’s obstacle course called the Safari Stampede.

KANSAS

Movie on the Capitol Lawn
Head to the Kansas State Capitol lawn on June 1 to watch “Jaws.” This free movie starts at 8:45 p.m. Lawn chairs and/or blankets are welcome.

Wichita Riverfest
Riverfest is back this year June 1–9 in downtown Wichita. Enjoy live music, children’s activities, food, and more.

NORTHEAST

NEW YORK

Adventures NYC
Visit the Bandshell Area of Central Park in New York City for a free outdoor adventure event on June 16. There will be karate lessons, yoga, rock climbing, paddleboarding, obstacle races, zip lining, and more.

Discovery Day
Freshkills Park is a landfill-to-park project in Staten Island that isn’t yet open to the public. Discovery Day is a great opportunity to see it before it opens. There will be tours, bike rentals, live performances, and more.

MASSACHUSETTS

Concert in the Park
Visit Norman B. Leventhal Park in Boston on June 14 at 5:00 p.m. for a concert in the park. This free event is a celebration of arts and music. There will be performances by youth performance groups of New England’s Inspire Arts and Music. The Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps will headline the event later in the evening.

Beacon Hill Art Walk
On June 3, walk through Beacon Hill’s North Slope where residents allow artists to display and sell their artwork in their private alleyways, courtyards, and gardens. This free neighborhood event also features musicians playing throughout the day.

NORTHWEST

WASHINGTON

Spoked to Ride
Spoked to Ride is a family-friendly bike ride that takes place June 23 at Remlinger Farms in Carnation. It raises funds for children in need. The ride ends with a barbecue and live music.

Furry 5K
Sign up for the Furry 5K on June 10 at Seward Park to help raise funds for the Seattle Animal Shelter. You’re welcome to walk or run with your dog. The race will be followed by the Pet-a-Palooza event.

OREGON

Milk Carton Boat Race
Watch children and adults race with their handmade boats made entirely out of recycled milk jugs and cartons at the Milk Carton Boat Race. This free event takes place at Westmoreland Park on June 24 at 11:00 a.m.

Grateful Dad Father’s Day Race
Celebrate Father’s Day with the Grateful Dad race on June 16 at Kliever Memorial Armory. This family-friendly event offers options for a half marathon, 10K, and 5K.
