Sending a Text Update with SuperPhone®
Updates is hands down SuperPhone®’s most popular feature for the simple reason that you can send a personalized message to all of your contacts (or a specific segment) at once. Once you’ve imported or collected your contacts/subscribers, you’re ready to send an update! Here’s a look at how this works:
Understanding your goal
Texting should be taken very seriously— it’s important to remember that you are now in the most direct channel of someone’s phone. The great thing about text is that you are challenged to be more simple & direct by limiting your message to 160 characters.
You can take advantage of our recommended updates, accessible when you first login on desktop or from the ‘Updates’ view in the native mobile app:
Composing the update
You can access the compose an update view by tapping on the (+) button at the bottom of your toolbar. You’ll be prompted to include a merge field (required to increase deliverability at scale). We’ll keep ours simple and add <fname> which pulls your contact’s first name. Keep the message short and direct.
Choosing the tag
You can either send an update to all of your contacts, or just segmented groups which can be selected either by custom tags, geo-location, VIP status, or birthdays happening that day. Need to edit your tags? You can customize them by going to your tags page on desktop or mobile web.
Schedule the time
You can either schedule in advance, or send it right away:
