Programmers’ Bad Habit of Seeking a Silver Bullet in Frameworks

The Nature of Programmers

Isn’t there a tendency among programmers to believe that tools and frameworks can act as a silver bullet, solving their problems?

However, especially in areas involving human subjects such as communication and organizational issues, a tool-first or framework-first approach does not always lead to success. This is also true in businesses with high levels of uncertainty.

Why Programmers Leap at Tools

Tools and frameworks are easy to start with, which is why it’s tempting to jump on them immediately.

While they can be useful, they are not always the answer in every situation.

Trying them out is fine, but it’s concerning when the first solution attempted is a tool or framework.

Could this be falling into a “tool-first mindset”?

The Pitfall of Tool-First

For example, there’s the Pomodoro Technique, which involves alternating periods of focus and rest.

While this technique can be useful, starting conversations with “Which app should I use?” or “What tools are best?” is risky.

In the case of the Pomodoro Technique, a physical stopwatch, a smartphone’s stopwatch, or even a clock is all that’s needed to get started.

Yet, why think as if “choosing the right tool is the top priority and everything depends on it”?

Book-First

In the real world and even in programming, not everything can be found in books.

Thinking “Which book should I read first?” is dangerous.

Importing Success

In the business world, management often tries to replicate methods that worked well for other companies, only to fail miserably.

Although I haven’t personally experienced this, it seems like a common occurrence.

Jumping to methods without understanding “What the problem is and what the best solution would be” is risky.

So, What Should We Do?

How can we solve problems and make progress without relying on tools, frameworks, or methods?

To avoid falling into a tool-first mindset, I’m here to introduce a dream framework…!

The debut of the framework to prevent a tool-first mindset…!

Please, go ahead…!
