Blair Hall from Forster Tuncurry SUP has a reputation; Ocean-man, Nature-man, Hell-man… All fitting titles for this man named Blair.

He’s held in high-esteem amongst the gangs along Rockpool Road; they don’t fear him, they admire him.

Blair’s reputation on land and in the water is what makes him an authority on many things, not least Stand Up Paddle Boards.

Once a month Blair journeys up to Burleigh Heads to stock up on quality SUPs from Gulliver, Australian Waterman and Byron Lines. When asked about why Blair has chosen these brands in particular to stock he doesn’t mince his words:

“I wanted to work with Australian owned companies only, mostly because I want to ensure that environmental considerations are taken into account and so that the local people who make them have my support too”

Blair stocks paddles (both fixed and adjustable), board bags and SUPS in both of these ranges, and he bundles together packages (board, paddle, bag) for those who want to hit the ocean or lake ready for action.

Even though the early mornings are now greeting us with a hint of the winter to come, the chance to shoot Blair on his new Australian Waterman Vanguard with the sun rising over Tuncurry was too good to let any shift in temperatures hold us back.

The Australian Waterman Vanguard is the closest thing in the SUP world that has the functionality of a short board, and Blair is the only person in NSW currently distributing the AW Vanguard (which is the board in all the pics).

What is interesting about the AW Vanguard is that, by cutting the nose and tail down square you have the same stability as a board approximately a foot longer.

Blair’s reputation exceeds him for good reason; he is a decent guy with knowledge and wisdom of the ocean pouring through his veins.

Enjoy these pics of Blair dancing on golden waves, and don’t let the colder mornings stop you from getting out there too!

Check out his Facebook page for contact details!

See you above the water…
