Afghanistan: Tears, Fear and everything in between
I have been trying hard to learn the complexities of human institutions like Government, Politics, Power, War and Peace. One story has been bothering me for the last few weeks — the depths of political turbulence at Afghanistan. I am moving 20 years backwards to 2001, when one of the most tragic terrorist attack happened in USA(9/11) and how the US retaliated with it’s troops to not only kill the head of the terrorist organization, but also bring stability to a country that was in turmoil between an elected government and a military regime. Today, as we know it with the revoking of the US troops back home, the country has been shook to it’s knees and majorly taken over by the military organization.
That is as much as the quick history I am going to write in this article. I am not going to go back to the years they have fought over many countries and troops trying to take control of it’s land. Today, I want to talk about the people, the civilians, the everyday common man who is trying to survive, foster and feed his family. The entire picture of seeing a country from a political or military stand point, destroys the image that you and me have of the country. The bigger picture, absolutely destroys the humanitarian call for what’s happening under the surface. Before anything, I would like to invite you to watch this video from Yes Theory, showing the heart-warming people of Afghanistan. This should absolutely be able to erase any per-existing biases to this entire situation.
It is disturbing to see that we have beliefs that doesn’t allow people to thrive — no education for children, no freedom for women and the constant fear of being taken over by an extremist group. To be in such a situation, helpless is something that you and I might not have ever experienced it first hand. Freedom is such a priced possession, it’s the only thing we are fighting for until we have it. The aim of this article is to bring to light the situation in Afghanistan and how we can support this cause.
United States being a country of Immigrants, allows for a lucky few to fly into the country across in Seattle, Washington DC, Houston and Forth Worth. So if you are from around the area, you can help in airport pickup, apartment setups, arranging meals etc. This is where you can read more about it —
The entire problem is much much larger, it’s something that will most probably take many more years to find it’s peace. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t do something about it right now, there are people trying to make a difference by building schools that pay wage and teach kids at the same time and I am just scratching the surface here. I hope this conversation can start to pick more and we can make a small difference which will snowball into something that can change the situation.
