Recently, I have been very anxious due to a lot of uncertainties in my life. Even though I know things will pan out eventually, I still feel the constant restlessness in me. I know a lot of you must have been in a similar place and many of you might have come out of it. Sadly, many might even experience this feeling or emotion sometime in the future. Well, this blog is for all of us. I am not going to be a “Guru” of some kind and share some advice of how to overcome it. I am just going to share, how I feel like and why I believe I ended up in such a scenario in the first place. Maybe, we can together find a solution to this rampant feeling that each one of us will at some point connect to.

To begin with, let me explain what I am currently feeling. The feeling is of Void, it is feeling that the present is something that I don’t look forward to. The real reason behind this is because, everything that I am working towards is something that is going to get back to me in the future. So, currently I am left with nothing but void. Compounded by the fact that, what the future holds in uncertain. So I believe this is the true reason for having anxiety.

But, not everything is bad in case you end up in such a scenario. Because, this phase is something that teaches us a lot. In a world where we get instant gratification, most of the things that makes us either happy or sad is an external factor. But, when we are experiencing an emotion such as anxiety, I don’t believe much of those instant gratifications are going to come in handy — not instagram, not facebook, not porn, not shopping, not anything that gives instant gratification. That is when we go in search of something that has given us some long lasting happiness from the past. Let me give you some more context.

In our world, everything is fast. Everything is transient. We keep moving from one thing to another. The train is moving so fast already, on top of which we keep hoping from one compartment to another, thinking we will get to the destination faster. All of this, works fine when you are constantly moving, jumping or hoping. But, say you reach a dead-end inside the train. That is when life, gives you an opportunity to sit back and think while you wait anxiously for the train to reach the destination. So, I am at this stage of my life. I know where I am, but I am not sure what to do in such a scenario!

But wait, for someone who has got time to sit back and relax. Won’t he have time to think, what might be a possible solution? I believe, this is the time when we are to look back at the past and hang out to things that brought us genuine happiness. For me, it is my friends! They are the only thing, that from the past will make it to the future and they are the only thing I hang to. But, the case maybe something different for everyone — it could be your family, your job, your colleagues or something that you enjoyed doing in the past.

There is light at the end of the tunnel (PC: Aarón Blanco Tejedor)

There is also another way, I think we can work around this problem. But, that requires a lot more will power. Work on something that you are sure will impact your future in a better way. Like something that makes you better in your field, or something that you always wanted to start doing — like a blog or YouTube channel. This way, we can ignore the fact that we are anxious and work towards building something. I am not sure, how well this works. But, I believe these are the two ways to overcome anxiety — to get back to some of the happy moments from your past or to make the present more exciting.

To conclude, these are not some words of wisdom that I am sharing. I am just sharing, a perspective that I believe might work out. I have not yet found a solution, I am just trying to overcome. Let the topic around our mental health such as depression and anxiety be something that we can share, read and talk about openly with our family and friends. Because, we as a humanity could send a rocket to the moon and will soon be landing on mars. Don’t you believe we can solve some of the inherent problems that each one of us faces? Open to hearing your opinions, kindly comment your thoughts below. Have a good day!
