Welcoming Dr. Derick En’Wezoh to Susa Ventures

Over the last decade, the digitization of healthcare has resulted in enormous opportunities to advance medical innovation and improve care delivery. At Susa Ventures, we’re proud to have invested in healthcare companies like Medallion, Gentem, Viz.ai, and SamaCare; and are excited to further invest in the space. This is why we are delighted to welcome Dr. Derick En’Wezoh to Susa Ventures this week.

Derick is an entrepreneurial physician and seasoned operator specializing at the cutting edge of healthcare. He is joining Susa as an Investor in our San Francisco headquarters, where he will be responsible for driving new investments, supporting existing portfolio companies, deepening our expertise in healthcare, and cultivating relationships with the broader startup community.

We’re excited to continue working with Derick. Last year, Derick served as a Fellow in our inaugural Ventures Fellows Program, in which we selected 13 talented operators from a diverse pool of nearly 1,000 candidates to have a seat at Susa’s table. In working with Derick, we valued his keen expertise in healthcare and deep respect for the founder’s journey.

Derick brings both clinical and commercial experience to our team as we push deeper into health tech investing. He joins us most recently from Viz.ai, the leader in AI-driven modern care coordination and a Susa portfolio company. Derick led Growth at Viz.ai, built several departments, and was responsible for executing commercial and revenue strategies.

Viz.ai is a Series C stage company, has raised over $150 million from leading Silicon Valley investors such as Kleiner Perkins and Greenoaks Capital, is installed in hundreds of hospitals across the nation, and has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s top AI companies. Before Viz.ai, Derick was a surgical resident at Stanford Hospital. He completed his MD at Harvard and his MBA at Stanford.

Derick is deeply committed to supporting entrepreneurs and investing in businesses that positively impact the lives of others. At Susa Ventures, Derick will focus on leading new early-stage investments for the firm. As with all investors at Susa Ventures, Derick will invest across all sectors and verticals, but is particularly interested in healthcare and AI companies with virtuous data cycles.
