We’ve all been there…

You’ve finally done it. After years of hard-work and dedication, your Masonic Brethren elected you as their Worshipful Master.

Now what?

Aside from the administrative tasks (which you will do in conjunction with your Secretary and Treasurer), your Lodge meetings and social activities are very much in your hands and under your direction.

The success of your Lodge depends on YOU!

However, there is no reason to reinvent the wheel.

Around the world, Worshipful Masters, Grand Lodges, and Freemasons are engaged (or engaging) in numerous social activities, educational programs, fundraisers, and more.

What’s even better, these activities, reports, and fundraisers are being reported (and reported for free) in publications/e-blasts made available through the click-of-a-button.

We, at Square & Compass Promotions, subscribe to and/or follow many of these publications. They provide a wealth of information as to what Freemasonry and Freemasons are doing for the craft and the community.

They also provide a wealth of ideas which this author can take to his Lodge and potentially apply to/in his Masonic journey.

To expand on the title of this article, “good Worshipful Masters borrow ideas…great Worshipful Masters steal ideas.”

These ideas are not the exclusive domain of Worshipful Masters to steal.

A Lodge Education Officer may find ideas for educational programs.

A Senior Lodge Officer may find ideas that (much as a squirrel with a nut) he can “squirrel” away for use during his term-of-office.

A member (of any rank) may find ideas which he can take on his masonic journey and career; or even topics of discussion to broach in his Lodge or to his mentors.

After all, are masons not called upon to make “a daily advancement in Masonic knowledge.”

BUT-many of the publications discussed above are actually available to the general public.

If you are not a Mason, but have always had questions regarding Masonry (or Freemasonry), many of these publications provide excellent answers and information on what Masonry does and its relevance for both its membership and the communities in which it is located.

Below, you will find a list of the publications/e-blasts which we at Square & Compass follow.

Please note, this list is not exhaustive. If you follow any publications not on the list below, please let us know in the comments!

Included within the list are hyperlinks which will take the reader to either a home-page or sign-up page, which contains information regarding signing-up or following the relevant publications/e-blasts.

Publications/E-Blasts

Let’s start with an obvious ask-please follow Square & Compass Promotions! You can sign-up for our e-blasts at our website, receive our emails via Medium, and subscribe to our YouTube. All of the above is free! You can also follow or join our Patreon (at either a free or tiered level).

Square & Compass Promotions explores the many ways in which Freemasonry was and is relevant to the communities in which it is located, as well as posting stories of Masonic interest!

Aside from ourselves, we encourage you to check out and subscribe to the following publications/e-blasts

Another excellent source of information too often forgotten by Masons is the Lodge summons or, more especially, the Lodge summons of a visiting Mason.

If you have a visitor to/in your Lodge: ask about exchanging Lodge summons. This exchange fosters connections between our different Lodges and, once again, provides a wealth of ideas from which one can borrow (steal) for one’s own Lodge!

The author also must mention Holy Land Lodge №50 Newsletter. As a new affiliate member, this newsletter has provided a wealth of information and ideas!

We also 100% know the above list is not exhaustive. Do you have any publications you follow. Let us know in the comments!

All opinions expressed are those of Square & Compass Promotions and the guest(s), and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Windsor Masonic Temple and/or any other Masonic group!

Expressed another way:

“Everyone is entirely free to reject and dissent from whatsoever herein may seem to him to be untrue or unsound.”
