Drinking tea have a lot of benefits in our health. It has been showed that tea can relieve stress, prevent cardiovascular diseases and cancer. There are various types of tea with different tastes and effects.

There’s new study published in Aging carried out by the researchers from Singapore. Scientists shared that people who drink tea regularly have better brain organization region compare to non-tea drinkers.

The study recruited older subjects aged greater than 45 years old with habits of drinking tea like oolong tea, green tea, black tea or coffee. Subjects answered the questionnaire by recalling their frequency of drinking tea. 15 subjects were assigned into the tea drinking group versus 21 subjects in the non tea drinking group.

The purpose of the study is to further investigate how tea impact the brain structure to improve the cognitive function.

The result showed significant differences in structural network of brain between tea drinkers and non tea drinkers. In non tea drinkers, brain exhibited more asymmetrical structure between the hemispheres. The previous study indicated that left asymmetry in structure connectivity of the brain correlated with the aging of brain. Therefore, regularly drinking tea could have good contribution to brain structural development and potential age preventing effect of the brain.
