Happy Chinese New Year to The Suterusu Community

We want to wish our community a Happy Chinese New Year — The Year of the Rat!

The year of the rat is the first in the 12-year Zodiac cycle of the Chinese New Year and marks a time of renewed instincts and ambition.

The strengths of people born in the year of the rat include intelligence, judiciousness, outgoingness, and cheerfulness. The year celebrates the quick wit and intelligence of the story where the clever rat tricks the ox during the race to the Jade Emperor’s party.

For our foreign community members, Chinese New Year, also known as The Spring Festival, falls on different days in the Gregorian Calendar every year — based on Chinese lunar cycles.

This year, the holiday fell on January 25th, and we wish everyone safe travels on their trips home.

As we begin the new decade, we would like to take some time and reflect on Suterusu’s accomplishments in the last year and what we’re looking forward to over the next decade.

2019 & Looking Ahead to The Next Decade

2019 was a pivotal year for our project. We unveiled our whitepaper, launched our website, and offered a new confluence of privacy tech to the cryptocurrency and blockchain community.

At the heart of our efforts are zk-conSNARKS, a compact, constant-sized zk-SNARK for advanced, scalable privacy in our modular blockchain ecosystem.

We unveiled our staking/mining and governance systems as part of our liquid meritocracy, which we believe can serve as the foundation for a new generation of privacy-oriented blockchains. The conclusion of the Character Design Competition also provided our new Dark Samurai logo, and we commend everyone for participating.

As we look deeper into the 2020s, we have an arduous task on our hands.

Privacy is at a premium. Government surveillance is ubiquitous. Social media companies harvest user data with impunity.

The new financial paradigm calls for a more privacy-oriented approach, and we believe zero-knowledge proofs will be at the core of this movement.

The continued penetration into a digital world will begin to make cash more irrelevant, so we must proceed to build non-discretionary privacy tools. That’s what we’re doing with Suterusu — crafting the scalable privacy framework for financial assets.
