Svasth stands for ‘Health’ in Sanskrit.

Why Svasth?

Recent studies show that only 10% of Indians involve themselves in physical activities.

But wait, what are the other 90% people doing?

They are following the Snorlax Swag!

90 % of Indians follow the SNORLAX SWAG

EAT.SLEEP.OFFICE.REPEAT is the Snorlax swag that everyone has been following from ages.

This SWAG is not cool!

Every one in two Indians is inactive, which puts them at risk of lifestyle disorders such as obesity, diabetes, cardiac diseases and cancer.

Researchers surveyed 14,227 individuals in three states — Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and the Union territory of Chandigarh — which have a combined population of 213 million.

They found that 54.4% of the population was physically inactive. Shocking but true.

The highest recreational activity was reported by Chandigarh where 11.6% of the people said they did some physically intensive recreational activity.

Well done Chandigarh

Chandigarh is followed by Maharashtra (8.8%), Tamil Nadu (6.9%) and Jharkhand (5.2%).

Experts recommended at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical exercise a week. This is essentially 30 minutes of brisk walking, swimming, jogging or cycling at least five times a week.

But in India, studies state that people averaged only 19 minutes of exercise a day.

Why do Indians don’t exercise?

There are so many factors in India that determine the health of an individual. But the most important factor is DIET.

Indians have low access to healthy diet and required nutrients and high access to junk food.

Fast Food on a rage in India

Balanced eating and a rich diet highly affect the health of an individual.

The paper, a part of Indian Council of Medical Research — India Diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB) study, estimated that 392 million people in India are inactive and there is an urgent need to promote physical activity to stem the twin epidemics of diabetes and obesity in India, the study concluded.
