After this, he muttered ruefully, we’ll probably have to change the name of the site to ‘The Clemens Neufeld Appreciation Society’

Following hot on the heels of his storming acid drenched EP ‘Strictly 303’ (reviewed here )

Shut up.

Listen to this.

Sit down.

Listen to this.

Stand up.

Listen!

No wait — you’re not concentrating.

Sit down again. Drink this. Shut up.

It’s like Nu-Disco except it’s not. It’s got the old Disco flavour. More importantly it’s got the Funk and it echoes and rumbles of acid

It’s Clemens Neufelds new album and it’s about goddamn time.

Subsonic Disco
Is the smooth opening track. This glitters of slow motion walking through lush nightclubs. This is a beautiful slice of deep disco funk.

I played it for a friend who remarked, “That’s music for doing hookers and cocaine to. Classy hookers — the kind you could pretend were your girlfriend to your mother. Expensive ones that actually picked their profession.”

Good Mood
Carries on the vibe into some rolling deep and funky house. This is so damn happy I dare you to not be cheered up by it. This is the music of martial art dance offs and robot men spinning on impossible hair. I write that without a trace of irony, this is cheer-up fun for your ears.

I expect the first two tracks alone to become ever-present club earworms. It is very hard not to bop along to them.

Bag Pipes
Yup — there’s the techno — old but different — still new sounding — I really want to hear this on a big system. In the twisted obsessive playing and replaying and replaying that accompanies any review we do — whenever this pops on, guests keep remarking “Oh that’s awesome, who is that?”

You know, before we quickly turn it off, screaming “No it’s ours, ours!”

As by now, we are, in too deep.

Hot Winds
The ’90s — except now — with really clear crystal deep bass. Again, the album retains a sense of happy fun that is hard to ignore. This may be ’90s flavoured with the piano kicks but you won’t mind.

While reaching back across the sands of Electronic time — Clemens has somehow managed to keep the music sound relevant, fresh and above all fun. This is quite an impressive feat of straddling.

Luftkissen (hovercraft)
Just Techno — familiar, funky, different yet always the same Techno. A well paced midpoint to the album. This track is an easy dancer.

Mondschein (moon shine)
Dark and minimal — I was thinking I could tail off the review, but this track is too good not to mention. This is one of my favourites and something I want to see mixed with the likes of Ancient Methods or Milton Bradley. I should probably get on that.

Regenflug (rain flight)
This takes a deeper, more sedate turn to the album — a wind down or a groovy cooler — this is good for smoking, delicate cheeses and cocktails.

Rauschen (noise)
I love the fuzzy opening of this and the programming — damn you Clemens, damn you.

The album may initially seem to lack concept, but it quickly becomes apparent that it is a night out through Clemens mind from bounce to time for conversations on a balcony.

But… we should go back inside to the music…

Milchstrasse (milky way)
A solid master class in dirty space-tronics. It would not surprise me to find this coming to a gangster film soundtrack.

Aerosol
As sodden as this album is in the old rave and acid techno sounds — it fails to get boring. This is a sneaky little number for walking industrial wastelands and hunting replicants.

Gute Nacht (good night)
This playful and spacey closing track mumbles FSOL & Orb memories, beanbags and tracers. You will probably tie and retie your shoelaces to this a few times. But you won’t mind.

Clemens album is a glorious melting pot of all he has done in twenty odd-years and a deep respectful nod to all his peers past and present.
This album vibrates with positivity and from what I have seen in my bunkered down repetitive listening, it resonates well with the body and the mind — as guests have been unable not to smile and give a little jive.

The album is released on 20 | 3 | 2014
