I found Plum’s debut album “Different Skin” in the much lamented City Discs. The best place to go to pick up the music people better versed in music than you, sold the stuff what they’d bought once they’d ripped it to mp3. It was around the time I was feeding a sizeable Benbecula Records habit.

Plum is Shona MacGuire, she won Best Electronic Music Artist for the concept album “The Seed” in the 2013 Scottish Alternative Music Awards. Plum was the first female ever to be nominated in the Best Electronic category and was the first solo female winner ever at the SAMAS.

Ages back, we asked could we interview her for another forgotten publication— Plum agreed and then, on our side, time, the universe, a small dog called Admiral Ruffles and life happened and we had to shelve that.

Instead, here’s a short piece with some of Plum’s music we like.

To describe it as loop based electronics does not really do it justice.

Catchy and eclectic, the albums drift on and are a good background to doing things, any of the things.

There’s loads on her Soundcloud, including the track “You” from “Different Skin” that will dig itself into your head.
