In the wake of the Pandemic, fake news, and self-distancing, people need a diversion to stay connected and entertained. The World Health Organization(WHO) prescribed gaming last March 29 as an effective tool to stop the spread of COVID-19, gathering gaming industry leaders to launch #PlayApartTogether. This initiative is imperative to follow their guidelines like social distancing, proper hand, and personal hygiene techniques, and other preventive actions to fight COVID-19.

With this in mind, we gather four reasons why gaming is your best company in the time of Pandemic.

Happy feeling. The CEO of Call of Duty Bobby Kotick, emphasizes how gaming is the perfect platform to connect. “Games are the perfect platform because they connect people through the lens of joy, purpose, and meaning.” The joy produced by playing games will make your body respond to that positive experience, creating a feeling of happiness and healthy well-being. Look for a game that catches your attention, and share it with your friends virtually!

Never apart. Any Pandemic cannot stop us from creating memorable moments with our loved ones. The technology connects us with our faraway friends more than ever. Hence, games today are more Social and interactive, that no one will be left behind. Loneliness has no room in this time of physical distancing. Look for fun and engaging games that you and your friends will enjoy and have a good laugh!

Train your brain. Staying at home doesn’t mean to slack all day. A study made in Saudi Arabia proves that games enhance the cognitive domain, including attention and motor speed. Exercising the brain to respond quickly and with precision is recommended not just for the younger generation but to the advanced in years. Although nothing beats sleep and physical exercise for a healthier brain, adding a mobile game on your phone is not a bad idea. Cognitive games are easily accessible in the App Store and Google Play.

Stay challenged. The sky is the limit when it comes to personal growth. However, staying in the four corners of your home can either make you or break you. Learn new things, and remember the hobbies that you dreamed of accomplishing but finding it hard to fit into your schedule. Look for games in the mobile store that will challenge your thinking and make you immune to difficulty. Do not just have fun, stay challenged! No Humanity is the World’s Hardest Game, and I cannot go above 30 seconds!

While there is no cure for COVID-19 today, the call to stay at home, practice hand hygiene and physical distancing are crucial to flatten the curve of transmission. Get your phone, download your favorite game and save more lives by taking part in this global initiative of stopping this Pandemic. Stay healthy, both mentally and physically!
