Women of Sweet Share Their Thoughts on web3
Sweet is introducing a new initiative, aptly named “Women in web3” (WiW3), to celebrate the amazing women who work here, as well as provide an opportunity for them to share their thoughts on web3 and how their unique career paths led them to work in the space. We hope this WiW3 initiative will serve a dual purpose to provide both information and inspiration for women who want to pursue a career in web3 and other technology fields.
Our first WiW3 conference will be hosted on September 28th at 3 pm ET. Here is a link to the conference: https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1BdGYyaWPPAGX.
Four very accomplished women from our leadership team will hold an open discussion about their experiences working in web3. The participants will include —
Betsy Proctor, Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships
Megan Thorpe, Director of PR and Communications
Grace Yan, Director of Communities
Devon Martens, Principal Blockchain Engineer
In anticipation of this upcoming discussion, here are a few of their thoughts on why people should tune in:
Grace: ”A rising tide lifts all boats.” We need to strip ourselves of the outdated notion that there are limited amounts of success to go around and that people need to compete for a slice of the “Success Pie” based on their gender identity, race, and other factors. The science behind Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is clear: companies who respect and value historically minimized voices tend to be most successful and resilient because they have access to more creative thinking and solutions to difficult problems. We all want to work in a culture where we all have each other’s backs. It’s a more joyful and rewarding working life when you know you don’t have to do it all and that others are empowered to support you. I hope people attend as allies not just for the sake of “WiW3” but for their own professional well-being, too!
Betsy: I have a lot of friends who feel very behind on what this space is, what it means, and where it is heading. We’re going to break it down in simple terms.
Devon: At Sweet, we get to work on some of the most innovative projects in web3. The women of web3 talk will discuss some of the inner workings and processes that we undergo to maximize user and brand experiences with NFTs. It will also celebrate our team’s diversity and the rise of women working in tech.
Megan: Every journey to web3 is different — hear from three women who followed different professional paths to land at Sweet.
