Gaming in all its forms — from competitive playing to watching playthroughs on Youtube — has become an integral part of life for millions of people. In 2016 itself there were about 2.5 billion gamers around the globe. No surprise everyone is talking about ways to get on the hype train from the business side and cut a piece of the global gaming revenue.

Due to its dramatic rise, we see the need to talk about the vast amount of opportunities in Gaming. Who knows, maybe one day you might want to try your chances in this industry.

1. In Gaming, the climate is appealing for entrepreneurs to start or fund a business

Most of the gamers once in their life dreamed either to develop their own video game or at least to work in this space. Every year thousands of companies come up with a product they think is revolutionary and will conquer the market by opening up new skills, testing unique technology or instil insightful knowledge to the player base. Hundreds of researches have conducted in search of something new. As a result, we have a high level of competition and the market is developing rapidly.

If you are looking for business opportunities here, you should also consider the increasing interest in eSports. There $655 million in revenue in the US in 2017 and $865 million in 2018 alone, and the numbers are forecasted to grow at a pace higher than pretty much any other industry. The revenue of the US market is expected to reach $1 790 million by 2022. And the figure is not surprising given the number of people watching or participating in eSports tournaments over the past few years. Hence, many eSports startups are usually a big hit and in demand among the top-tier investors and accelerators such as 500startups, Advancit Capital, Index Ventures and others.

2. Gaming actually helps people to improve their health

While talking about gaming, we should probably think of how it affects our body and mind. It turns out there are lots of positive consequences that stem from playing video games.

This is a well-known fact: gaming influences our mental health greatly by helping us cope with everyday struggles. For instance, simply playing casual mobile games helps people to reduce the level of stress. A habit to play video games can result in a positive ageing experience for older people.

In addition to that, we shouldn’t forget that video-games are amongst the most successful means to help kids with autism. It helps them in practising communication skills. It also offers an opportunity to find common interests with their peers. Video games are known to force children into making decisions on their own and becoming flexible — virtues that they usually lack. As a result, playing games can help children to socialize.

One interesting fact is that gaming can enhance your vision abilities. Despite the widespread belief that one can harm their eyesight by spending too much time playing games, the reality is a bit different. A study done by the University of Rochester concludes that video games help you to improve your contrast sensitivity, the primary limiting factor in how well a person can see, without any surgical intervention, glasses or lenses.

3. Gaming speeds up the process of learning

Several things happen to us when we play video games for an extended period. First, gaming affects your brain by increasing its activity in areas responsible for spatial orientation, memory formation and strategic planning, as well as fine motor skills. That is according to a study done by Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Charité University Medicine in Berlin, Germany.

Overall, there’s something for everyone: from starting a new business, to train your brain to have superior learning abilities, developing new skills or improving communication abilities.
