Introducing Rebecca, SWIPE’s newest team member and former Managing Director of Nielsen Company in Singapore
SWIPE is proud to introduce our newest member, Rebecca Tan onto the SWIPE team. She wields 28 years of business development and management experience in the media industry, possessing an exclusive and excellent insight and grasp of the industry. Recognized for her decisiveness, strong business acumen, and interpersonal skills, Rebecca builds strong teams, develops creative solutions and realizes organizational goals. Rebecca will be joining SWIPE as a Strategic and Analytics consultant, leveraging on her relevant experience to advance SWIPE’s business development, market research, and media outreach.
Rebecca’s Background
Rebecca, with her enterprising spirit, established success in the media industry in her early years. She was part of the founding team and VP of Singapore Television Twelve Pte Ltd from 1994–1997, which is known today as MediaCorp TV12, a subsidiary of MediaCorp, the largest media broadcaster and provider in Singapore. During her tenure, she managed the sales and research team and more than doubled the television advertising revenue, greatly changing the perception of the station which was previously known to be merely obscure and complimentary.
From 1998–2017, she is part of the Nielsen Company in Singapore, rising to a position of Managing Director, reporting directly to the President of Nielsen’s SEANAP (Southeast-Asia, North Asia, Pacific) branch. Nielsen is a global measurement and data analytics public corporation, an unrivaled leader in providing comprehensive consumer behavior. Nielsen leverages on its data sources to provide analytics to enterprise clients that in turn use it to review and improve their business performance. Nielsen is operational in more than 100 countries and its products and services target over 90% of the world’s GDP and population, where a significant amount of data in the form of goods purchases and media consumption is tracked and aggregated in some way by Nielsen. At Nielsen, Rebecca was part of an executive committee and led the products and operations arm of Nielsen in the Southeast Asian region. For her 18 years in the company, she has consistently exceeded financial expectations and has been pivotal in securing projects and contracts with telecommunications and corporate clients, cementing Nielsen’s outreach and domination in the market.
Currently, Rebecca is also serving as the Senior VP at Carbon Interactive, a digital marketing agency. She is responsible for driving revenue growth through digital and analytic consulting and seeks collaborative partners to expand Carbon.
Rebecca’s experience spans wide across traditional, digital and new media, industries that SWIPE are targeting as data monetization partners. The SWIPE team is glad to have such a well-established leader and pioneer in the media industry on-board, and we look forward to her presence, guidance, and leadership that would complement us in navigating through a challenging and rapidly evolving industry.
