SWIPE Bi-Weekly Update, 10th — 21st September
Singapore blockchain week is over, and it was a week of non-stop meetings, events, and networking! Amazing things happen when the thought leaders of an entire industry gather to discuss the best ways to move forward and share their opinions on where the market is heading. Consensus: Singapore 2018, the premier blockchain event organized by Coindesk has been a resounding success, featuring some of the best brains, ideas, and companies in the world. SWIPE is proud to be able to be part of it in a small way and would like to share our journey and happenings in this action-packed week.
15th September- SWIPE’s CTO, Andrew, speaking at INBLOCKS
In the days leading up to Singapore Blockchain Week, CTO Andrew Marchen was present in Jakarta, speaking at Indonesia’s largest blockchain conference INBLOCKS.
Hosted by Tokocrypto, one of Indonesia’s leading exchange and sponsored by Rate3 and TTC Protocol, Inblocks was a huge success in promoting blockchain and digital assets to over 400 attendees.
CTO Andrew was invited to give a pitch about SWIPE that he delivered passionately. As a fun fact, Andrew is an Indonesian Chinese and speaks very fluent Bahasa Indonesia, the national language. This was much appreciated by the audience, who consists primarily of native Indonesians far more comfortable in their native tongue.
Andrew’s efforts certainly gave SWIPE’s pitch a personal and engaging feel for the Indonesian audience. Thank you, Andrew, for your hard work!
18th September- Winning the Whaleblocks X Tech In Asia Pitch Night
Organized by WhaleBlocks and Tech-in-Asia, Pitch Night featured six project teams pitching to event partners and a 200-strong audience, consisting of prominent blockchain startups and funds. These teams, picked from a pool of 30 applications, endured rigorous due diligence to demonstrate the fitness of its proposed products. Ranging from supply chain management to knowledge sharing, these are projects making strong headways to disrupt traditional industries with blockchain.
Emerging as champions of the night of pitching was none other than our very own SWIPE team. Contestants were judged from a panel of experts such as Jack Lu, CEO of Wanchain, Long Vuong, CEO of Tomochain, Victor Lai, Co-founder of Crushcrypto and SoSo, founding partner of Blockcrafters Capital. SWIPE is grateful towards the panel of judges for dedicating time and effort out of their busy schedules to grace this event, and of course to our partners, and community for their everlasting support.

19–20th September- Consensus Singapore
Consensus, the most anticipated blockchain event, happening right at our backyard had been an awesome experience. While SWIPE is not present in the capacity of a sponsor or speaker, it has been a fantastic opportunity to network with the array of investors, partners, startups and thought leaders in the industry.

22nd September- SWIPE pitch at LONGHASH Pitch Fest 2018
Together with 15 other projects, SWIPE had the opportunity to pitch to a panel of judges that would make any emerging project excited. Remington Ong, Partner of Fenbushi Capital, Renqi Shen, managing partner of BlockAsset, Ryan Kim, Chief Accelation Officer of #Hashed as well as James Gong and Yan Feng Chen, Co-Founder of Longhash were present to give comments, feedback, and advice for aspiring projects. SWIPE had a great time showcasing our project and networking with the guests and sponsors.
LendLedger.io emerged as the winner of the competition. We congratulate them on their well-earned victory and thank LongHash for the host of a successful event.
Overall, the Singapore blockchain week has been extremely productive for the SWIPE team and would like to give our thanks to all who have put in countless hours of hard work to organize the various events. Not only did we managed to showcase our project to multiple panels of expert judges, but we have also greatly widened our reach and influence in the industry. We are thankful for the opportunity to participate and pledge to strive ever harder towards realizing our project goals.
