Born & raised in Karnal, a small town in North India, Ankit moved to Mumbai when he was eighteen. He made the move not out of choice but out of necessity, in order for him to benefit from a university education. Being accepted at IIT, a very competitive elite engineering school opened doors for him on his journey from a small town in India to Toronto.
At the university in Mumbai, Ankit experienced, first hand, the transforming nature of education. How it can empower an individual and give him the tools to achieve his dreams. How it has a broader positive impact on others around him and his community.
When entering the job market, Ankit chose to work in the education industry because of his awe for the difference it could make in people’s lives. For the next six years he went to work for various edTech firms in India, writing code, architecting solutions and leading tech teams.
When asked about his past work experience, Ankit responds, “I really enjoyed working for the education sector, the people are amazing and this sector of technology will be helping 100s of millions achieve their full potential in the next decade.” He is very optimistic and has faith in the possibilities of solving large problems through new technologies.
Like his peers, Ankit enjoys programming in his spare time. He likes the collaborative puzzle solving process of programming, where the end product is useful. One of the side projects on which he worked with his brother has now been used by more than 250k students and teachers to date, a simple note taking app for learning new things on youtube.
He finds a deep joy in learning new things, this yearning to learn prompted him to come out of his comfort zone and switch industries from EduTech to Blockchain and apply his skills in this new and exciting space.
Ankit Mittal believes that blockchain’s core promise as transparent store of value and decentralized transfer-ability of value is a fundamental progress in the field of technology. Built on top of it, the ICO has been a wonderful invention.
When asked about his vision of the future and why he joined SwissBorg, a big smile appears on Ankit Mittal’s face, like a well prepared student eager to answer the main test question, “I am hopeful that many more disrupting and democratizing innovations are yet to come and we have just scratched the surface. With this in mind, the decision to join SwissBorg was a no brainer considering the ambitious goal of the project, the very impressive team, and a super engaged community.” At SwissBorg Ankit will be using his programming and research chops for quantitative crypto-investing strategies.
