The Foundations

1. Learn the basics of Ruby:
Before you start learning Ruby on Rails, you should have a solid understanding of the Ruby programming language. You can start by learning the basics of Ruby syntax, data types, control structures, loops, functions, and more. There are many online tutorials and courses that can help you get started.
Resources: Ruby Programming Language — Full Course

2. Learn the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript:
Ruby on Rails is a fullstack web development framework, which means you’ll need to have a good understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build web applications. You can start by learning the basics of HTML to create the structure of web pages, CSS to style the pages, and JavaScript to add interactivity to the pages.
Resources: Frontend Web Development Bootcamp Course (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)

3. Learn the basics of SQL and databases:
Ruby on Rails relies heavily on databases to store and manage data. Therefore, you should learn the basics of SQL, which is the language used to interact with databases. You can also learn how to use popular databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite.
Resources: Basics of SQL and databases

4. Learn the basics of Ruby on Rails:
Once you have a good understanding of Ruby, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL, you can start learning Ruby on Rails itself. You can start by learning the basics of the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture, which is the foundation of Ruby on Rails. You can also learn how to use Rails generators, which can help you quickly generate boilerplate code for your applications.

5. Learn how to build web applications with Ruby on Rails:
Next, you should learn how to build web applications with Ruby on Rails. You can start by building simple applications, such as a blog or a simple e-commerce site, and gradually move on to more complex applications. You can learn how to use features like routing, controllers, views, models, and more.

6. Learn how to test your Ruby on Rails applications:
Testing is an essential part of software development, and Ruby on Rails provides many tools to help you test your applications. You can learn how to use tools like RSpec, Capybara, and FactoryGirl to write automated tests for your applications.
Resource: Testing in Ruby on Rails Applications (Unit, Integration, & Functional Tests)

7. Learn how to deploy your Ruby on Rails applications:
Finally, you should learn how to deploy your Ruby on Rails applications to a production environment. You can learn how to use popular hosting platforms like Heroku, AWS, or DigitalOcean to deploy your applications. Resource: Continuous Deployment with GitHub Actions & Rails

These steps I am taking to solidify my foundation in Ruby on Rails development. Let’s go!
