What is an emotion?

Emotions are feelings. We know that, right? Emotions are typically reactive. They are intrinsic responses to circumstances and surroundings in our life. Despite what you’ve been told, for the most part, we have no control over them.

Although this may seem elementary, over the past several months I’ve realized there are numerous human responses that are commonly misidentified as emotions. When this happens it can drastically alter how you approach situations in your daily life.

Misidentifying emotions can lead to self-sabotage.

When you wrongly identify certain actions as emotional responses, you may unintentionally sabotage yourself. You begin to think that you lack the character necessary to rise to the occasion because you don’t naturally feel the impulse to react to things in a healthy way. This is why I believe its important for us to clear the air about the following 3 things:
