As a creative professional, you’re probably happiest when you’re following your passion.

If you’re a web designer, you want to be creating beautiful pages. If you’re a YouTuber, you want to be recording insightful videos. If you’re a writer, you want to be putting your words down in ways that will resonate with your audience.

I get it. As a writer, I love a workday where I can just write all day. No interviews, no phone calls, no Zoom meetings. Just me, my thoughts, my keyboard, and my monitor.

But I can’t make a living just writing pretty words and throwing them at the internet. I need to write for clients and reach an audience. And that means I need to work with other people.

Here are four scenarios where, as a content creator, you might need to build some people skills to succeed.

You need to solve other people’s problems

Lots of times, I want to throw a problem back at a client, especially if it’s their “fault.” For example, say a client needs me to contact someone and they give me the wrong email address. Of course, I could ask them for the correct address.
