4 months at Product Hunt & visiting San Francisco HQ

So it seems I like doing this every so often… my most recent trip to San Francisco deservedly needed a little post to go with it… This is what I got up to.

Picked up from the Airport by good friend Eric Willis — the one who helped kick-start this whole thing > “How I Landed a Job at Product Hunt”

Dropped bags off at my first AirBnB (I still feel weird that it is someone else’s home)

Went to the office… unintentional wardrobe co-ordination with Ryan Hoover #twins

Tried Philz

Realised Lukas Fittl is a lot taller than I thought he was

Went to the Castro with Niv Dror , Emily Hodgins and Kate, had food and drinks. Second time meeting Emily and equally as pleasant of course — Always nice to have a fellow Brit abroad.

Visited their spectacularly fabulous AirBnB

Alex Carter arrived with a bottle of whiskey in hand (knew we’d be good friends)

Tour guide Jacqueline von Tesmar turned up

Drank a tinny from a brown bag

Visited Jacq’s hubby at his brewery Black Sands (highly recommended)

Visited the painted ladies

Went to Corley’s hood and Brass Tacks. Rest of the night was a blur

Went to Tacolicious with Jacq, Kate, Alex and Russ Frushtick arrived!

Met Andrew Ettinger— who always knows where to eat! e.g. Sushirrito… WTF

Andrew took me to a Warriors game via the BART :o

Tried Chicken and Waffles… and that is not a lunch item guys, come on.

Went to SOULCYCLE!!! Thought I was going to die after the warm-up then actually really enjoyed it, even if my body said otherwise.

Met jsneedles very briefly

Had awesome burrito’s from Tacqueria Cancun in the Mission and had a chilled night at Jacq’s with a fire… Her husband has been great putting up with me too :) as has Pluto, their awesome pup.

Saw a protest

Witnessed Mike’s unfortunate addiction to Kale Crunch

Met our awesome designers Shaun Modi and Steph Bain

Saw the CUBES

Did karaoke with the crew and absolutely killed it with Mike Coutermarsh. Russ is a dark horse with the voice of an angel. Kate is Nicki Minaj in disguise.

Drank a lot of La Criox — I’m team Pamplemousse… Was forced to try the Coconut and am safely in the #NoCoconut zone (with Mike) 🙅

Ate a lot of Cafe Venue

Got caught by the paparazzi

Went to Tartine and ate a piece of heaven (Morning Bun) with Kate

Ate a Milky Way — which is way worse in America than in the UK (as is every other chocolate bar)

Received our Web Trumps cards and played with Jacq (I’d recommend playing with more than 2 people)

EVERYONE got sick (thanks Alex)

Met Ross and had an interesting conversation about Product Hunt Books

Met Hiten Shah — who taught me a lot and helped me think through things in a way I hadn’t thought about. He is full of great advice and I’m very grateful for his support.

Saw people dancing on the buildings

Span around making GIFs

Ate cookies that were delivered to the office (Rainbow sprinkle ones were THE ONE!) courtesy of Doughbies

Ate a phenomenal sandwich from Deli Board

Got trippy eating my own head

Met Hillel Fuld who has been supportive since I started!

Got creeped on by Andreas Klinger

Had my first Thanksgiving (Friendsgiving) — thank you so much to Corley and her husband for hosting. Mike and I had a ball. The dogs were very reliable letting us know when each course was. Ate yams (sweet potato) with marshmallows LOL-wtf?

Oh and Justin Bieber is constantly playing in the PH office AND the whole of America, it seems.

Home

I couldn’t recommend visiting SF and NYC enough. I’m fortunate enough to be able to, and with such an awesome company.

Working from SF was hard for me because I’m so used to knowing everything that is on the site at all times… waking up hours behind where I’d usually be, panicked the hell out of me haha. Kudos to Jake for being my saviour and really kicking ass on the site while I was there!

Meeting the team has been amazing and great to connect in real life. Massive shout out to the whole Product Hunt team! I’ll miss you all a LOT. Until next time! 🍌🍌🍌

Must give a BIG shoutout to my new best mate, Jacq, for putting up with me everyday. I made her hang out with me pretty much all of the time. She was a great tour guide, date partner and friend. It makes it hard to leave when you connect with people so well - we have agreed that we need to do two trips a year forever where we visit each other haha :) (I’m not needy, I promise). Thank you Jacq ❤

Back to work 👊
