‘Tis the time of year for countless ‘you should be thankful for this’ lists.

And while gratitude and positivity are commendable attributes, sometimes it’s OK to feel not-so-thankful too.

1. Invitations (Dear God, Not Another One) 😫

It was a good day until you opened your email and saw it lurking in your inbox… another dreaded Evite to someone’s jewelry party.

Or a networking event.

Or ugly-sweater party.

Or birthday party for a kid you barely know.

Or sex-toy MLM party. (Seriously, that’s a real thing.)

There goes your relaxing weekend plan of a Friends marathon and a couple of boxes of wine, right?

Wrong.

We overcommit ourselves because we feel like we just have to attend that networking event or we think our friends will be disappointed if we miss their ornament party. But you know what?

Sometimes it’s OK to say ‘thanks, but no thanks’ to an invite.

So go ahead, RSVP ‘no’ if you feel like it, send a gift in your place if necessary…
