8 ways to get more done in less time
So in this difficult age when every last thing seems to be sent to distract you, we thought it might be useful to lay out some of our best productivity hacks to help you get the most out of your day.
This will be short and sweet (so not to waste your time sitting on Medium when you should be working).
1. Project/team management Apps — Asana and Slack
So we’ve touched on these in a previous blog but they’re SO super important it’s worth mentioning them again. Asana is a fantastic project management tool that allows you to easily break down any project/goal into sub dividing tasks and then allocate each specific section to a member of your team. You can then set deadlines and even import different projects easily into a GANT chart. If you’re not using this already, you seriously need to be.
Slack is effectively a communication tool that allows you to set up different channels for different parts of your business. This allows you to specifically discuss different streams of your operation very effectively and if you tend to work remotely from the rest of your team, can save you oodles of time.
AND GUESS WHAT?! You can even integrate Asana and Slack to work together for super duper productivity.
Game.
Changer.
2. Ditch notifications!
This is a tough one. We all want to be connected 24/7 right? But seriously, stick your phone on airplane mode for 30 minutes and double down on that piece of work. You’ll see the difference in no time.
3. Don’t work from home
Boss given you 1 day a week to work from home? Get yourself down a co-working space or coffee shop. Distraction is the killer of effective output and all your creature comforts at home are bound to steal your attention. The best of us procrastinate, the worst of us sit in our pants and play Fortnite all day. Don’t give yourself the opportunity!
4. Get up early and exercise
We all know it, so few of us do it. Get up, get dressed and get out for that run. You’ll feel the benefit come 11 o’clock when your head is clear and that stress ball has sat untouched.
5. First the easiest
Nailed that to do list for the next day before you went to bed? Great. Just make sure the first thing is a super easy task you could do half asleep with your hands tied behind your back. It will give you that sense of achievement first thing in the morning and set in motion that beautiful thing we call momentum.
6. Schedule your email time!
Don’t get stuck in the weeds doing emails all day. Allocate 1/2 hours a day to smash through as many as you can and spend the rest of your time leading and managing your business.
7. Process out and delegate
Got a task you’re sick of doing that saps all your time? Process it out and pass it off to someone else. A great man once said (I can’t remember who):
“Delegate until it hurts”
And this is totally true. You’ll feel the benefit of that extra headspace and so will your business.
8. Standup meetings
And last, but not least, ever thought of having stand up meetings? It’s left field, I agree. But also a super effective way of cutting the bullshit from your meetings and forcing everyone to get straight to the point immediately. Just try it for a week and get your employees used to having achey legs.
That’s it, 8 short, sharp tips for making the most of your time. Not an exhaustive list, of course, but something to kick start you when you feel stuck in the mud.
If you can think of any others, please stick them in the comments for our readers to enjoy!
Thanks :)
