A Simple Solution to Tackling 3 Pressing Social Issues

What if I told you that there’s a cow in a remote school in Kenya, milking electricity as an incentive for parents to send their children to school?

It may sound like a scene out of a sci-fi movie. Only, the cow isn’t a real cow.

YOLK Station is a South Korean solar energy company. It’s run by one of the youngest female CEO’s in the world. They built the world’s smallest portable solar charger, the world’s thinnest and lightest solar charger — and now the Solar Cow.

Times named it one of the Best Innovations of 2019. CSE recognized it with the 2019 Innovation Award. But the concept behind it is so simple that you might wonder how it never crossed your mind.

The Solar Cow is in fact a solar charging station with a steel frame the shape of a cow. It is designed to resemble the cattle most children are forced to raise instead of going to school.

I like this project particularly because child labour is an issue closer to my heart.
