Do you abbreviate everything? Does Tanya become Tan and then T?

Acronyms are a huge problem. Why? The way you communicate determines if all the hard work you put in every day amounts to anything at all.

Acronyms can become like an invisible force that muffles what you write or what you say so that no one can understand you. They turn your audience into deaf people who desperately want to understand you but can’t because you’ve chosen to be a total imbecile and talk in morse code.

The problem is most of us don’t have the morse code machine to decipher your on/off signals which are these acronyms you parade around like you’re smart.

Here’s the case for the abomination of acronyms:

Acronyms don’t help you remember.

If everything becomes an acronym (which is already the case), the result is that all of us are much less likely to remember what your unique acronym means thus squashing to death the idea we should use acronyms to remember — what a load of bulldust.

Taking one letter from the start of each word of a sentence is confusing as hell.

There’s literally millions of words that one letter could stand for and if you’re hoping that the listener/reader will be able…
