Apple Finally Released a Cleaning Guide for AirPods — Because We Were Clearly Doing It Wrong
Goodbye toothpicks and Reddit hacks.
I’m going to be honest. My AirPods Pro have seen better days.
They’re the earbuds that join me for every sweaty workout, long flight, and chaotic Zoom call. And let’s just say, they’re not exactly sparkling anymore. In fact, they’ve become downright gross.
Like many of you, I’ve been down every cleaning rabbit hole:
Reddit forums, YouTube DIY hacks, TikTok tutorials — you name it. I’ve poked at the speaker mesh with toothpicks, dabbed alcohol-soaked Q-tips, and brushed them with everything from makeup wipes to a slightly questionable disinfectant spray.
None of it ever really worked, and I always felt slightly guilty afterward — like I’d broken some unspoken Apple law and voided my warranty.
Well, apparently Apple has noticed our messy desperation, because they just released an official video on how to properly clean AirPods Pro 2. And it’s about time.
Turns out, we’ve been cleaning our AirPods wrong this whole time. Shocking, I know.
