Be Passionate About Life Instead of Seeking to Be Successful

Passion is key to the things we do. So, we have heard from many individuals who crossed paths with us thus far in life. Yet, the pursuit of passion often conflicts with our immediate goals in life. I am referring to the quest to secure financial freedom, family harmony, corporate ladder climb, and many other goals legitimately pursued by many in our society.

Or so we thought, but no, pursuit of passion does not conflict with any goals we would define in life. And it is about finding passion in all we do, not about doing things we think we are already passionate about.

And not coincidentally, as we follow the path of passion, we too will find the elusive excellence and success in life.

Hobbies and Passion Are Not The Same

Quest for excellence by pursuing our passion does not mean we have to pursue our hobbies as a career. In fact, pursuing our hobbies as a career is often not a piece of great career advice, because a great career is achieved only when we possess the right attitude to excel. For example, how many of us like singing but are actually not talented in it? How many of us love to play sports but are actually bad at it? Great attitude certain is important for us to excel in anything we do, yet, as a matter of fact, natural aptitude is a very important factor for us in seeking excellence.

However, passion and hobbies are not the same, passion can be derived not only from our hobbies. In fact, the most successful and happiest individuals in life do not necessarily possess many hobbies, but we certainly are passionate in many things in life. No, we are actually passionate about everything we do! Be it something we are forced to do by circumstances, or something we clearly desire to do in life.

The question is then, how do we find these passions amidst our many responsibilities and already busy life? Turns out, it is just a simple tweak in mindset and perception in life, we try to find passion in whatever we do.

Passion is Finding Satisfaction in Even the Smallest Things in Life

Our pursuit of excellence and greatness in life brings us further away from the simplest things in life that could give us great satisfaction. Remember the moments when we first fell in love with someone, the moments when our parents praised us for our good behavior, or the moments when we went wild as a child playing in the playgrounds with our peers. Those were happy and surprisingly simple moments that we have long forgotten as we grow accustomed to the need for financial security.

As a child, we really could not be bothered about what happens on the next day, all we did, were to live in the present, and to be passionate about whatever we do at that moment.

And not coincidentally, as we lament those happy moments again, we refuse to put down our baggage in life in favor of the childhood innocence to once again taste the passion in life, the passion that allowed us to revel in joy in life’s simple moments, the passion to be happy in the face of any uncertainty in the future. As a child, we really could not be bothered about what happens on the next day, all we did, were to live in the present, and to be passionate about whatever we do at that moment.

This is the moment, for us to find that passion that we had as a child, and to be passionate, and be satisfied in the smallest things in life.

We Can Be Passionate First, and Then Be Successful

As we begin to accept the allure of our childhood innocence again, our life will change totally. Life will no longer be about the pursuit of financial security, life will cease to be boring, life will improve as we begin to look on the bright side of everything we do. Slowly but surely, happiness will sweep over us, creating a personality that arms us with renewed resolve and energy to overcome all challenges in life.

As we lose the willpower to overcome these challenges in life, our career, our personal life, and our quest for excellence and success begin to lose steam.

This is the mindset that we all often seek but always miss as we traverse the treacherous terrains that our steep career paths present to us. And as we lose the willpower to overcome these challenges in life, our career, our personal life, and our quest for excellence and success begin to lose steam.

Except, now that we have the mindset that allows us to accept life as it is, and to find passion in all the good and bad experiences we get, we are ready to journey up the mountain where excellence and success await us.

Passion Will Lead Us to Satisfaction

One day, when we have grown grey, we will look back into our memories, and we will find a life filled with passion, a life colored with many challenges and happiness, a life of no regrets.

So will you continue to pursue success in life or will you find the passion in life that will inevitably allow you to find that success all the same? Either way, we will probably be there, but our pursuit for passion in life will shine bright in our memories, and will inevitably, lead us to satisfaction that eludes so many of us who call ourselves successful.

And the choice is yours, will you come along?
