Miners are developers who can participate to the network and validate and secure new transactions. Miners have the power to solve the computational problem of adding new transactions to the blockchain. Miners do this using a process known as “proof of work” which is an algorithm to find new blocks using their computers. The process of proof of work relies on a set of rules.
