The price of success is handwork, dedication to the job at hand, and determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best ourselves to the task at hand. - Henry Ford

Break the Enigma is the case study competition organized this year by Innovation and Incubation Center, LNMIIT, Jaipur.
This year it was the first edition of Break The Enigma and I took the responsibility to organize this large event successfully.
The event started with the introductory speech by Prof. Anupam Singh, Faculty mentor of E-cell, LNMIIT, Jaipur and
Dr. Kumar Padmanabh, Faculty mentor of Innovation and Incubation Centre, LNMIIT, Jaipur who gave students the jest and motivation to give their best for pitching.

Why I organized the Event?

  1. The Innovative Idea: Initially I thought of conducting an Idea or a Startup Pitching event but those events are quite often organized by nearly all Entrepreneurship Cells or Incubating Centers. Therefore I wanted to start a different form of competition, which was not only different from the current array of event but also served the same learning experience.
  2. To improve managing skills: Management skill is one of the departments where I wanted to improve as there is always scope for improvement. Managing the stuff from the front is one of those stressful situations which seems easy but is more shallow than your thoughts, and trust me, heading smoothly and getting it successfully organized is one of those feeling which cannot be explained.
  3. Public Speaking Skills: In the current Industry, this is a major differentiating factor.
Conducting 2 pre-events provided me ample opportunity to nourish this soft skills.
  4. Knowledge of Startup/Entrepreneurship Culture: Everything looks easy until and unless you step in that lake.
Entrepreneurship is one of those Fascinating words which brings goosebumps to everyone, and I wanted to closely observe that, because when you jump in the shoe of a speaker, then it turns you to have more knowledge in the domain while addressing the audience.
  5. Case Study gives more insight of Startups Culture : I always believed that when you are pitching your own startup idea, you tend to lay more emphasis on idea presentation instead of business model, but when you do case study, then you are more exposed to the business model, its properties like what made that startup stand in the market or why some of its competitors failed, analyzing their errors.
So that you don’t commit the same mistake while establishing your startup.

Two pre-event sessions were conducted wherein the first session, the concept of case-study was explained, what are major points which must be accounted while doing a case study, how much leniency is there while adding on your own thoughts or ideas in it. In the second session, the brief description of the related questions which the students need to answer in pitching after their case study.

What did the students/participant learn?

  1. Pitching: Students were required to pitch there thoughts and presentation in front of judges, I personally feel that stage fear is one of those things which need to be overcome in your college life itself.
The more confident you are, the more successful you will become in the industry.
  2. Presentation: Presentation making is one of those parameters in which you need to be good because in upcoming college life you will be needed to make some or other sort of presentation.
Your half of the battle is won by a great presentation making skill because visual impressions is a major factor.
