Building a Subscription-Based E-Commerce Site with PayPal & Replit’s Agentic AI

Hi everyone, today I’d like to share my experience in building a tier-based subscription pricing e-commerce website that integrates with PayPal subscription using Replit, a conversational AI and browser-based IDE that allows you to build, test, and deploy applications using agentic AI. Now you might ask, “What is agentic AI?”, or “What is the difference between agentic AI in comparison to the generative AI we know, like chatGPT or Gemini?” A good question, let’s ask chatGPT to respond to that and here’s what it says:

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems capable of autonomous decision-making and action-taking without human intervention. These systems proactively pursue specific goals, plan and execute tasks, and adapt to changing environments, functioning as independent agents. In contrast, generative AI models like ChatGPT and Gemini are designed to produce content — such as text, images, or music — based on user prompts, operating reactively rather than proactively.

I did have experience working with an agentic AI before in a more specialized kind of way such as building a travel itinerary or writing a research paper outline for you given a certain hypothesis.
