Can Artificial Intelligence Do ASMR? Computer Says No!

ASMR & AI have exploded of late. If we combine them, could AI perform ASMR without the human connection? I’m not so sure.

Imagine chilling out or falling asleep to the crunching, slurping noises of a stranger on the internet chomping on a giant pickle. Because, as strange as it seems, that’s a thing. Youtube sensation ASMRTheChew has amassed a sizeable following of 714,000 people on a channel mostly dedicated to “eating sounds” videos.

But she’s not the only one at it. There are tens of thousands of channels on Youtube, and other platforms like the Tingles app, serving similar content to a vast network of stressed and sleep-deprived souls. It doesn’t always involve eating food though. Fans love an array of “triggers.” Whether it’s tapping on glass, head-scratching, whispering stories, drinking juice, flicking through books, writing, or whatever, there’s something for everyone.
