Donald Trump Announced A $5 Million “Gold Card.” Why You Shouldn’t Care
Buying U.S. citizenship is nothing new.
Something new happened the other day. President Trump made an announcement and the country lost its collective mind.
Okay, so maybe that’s not so new.
Still, President Trump announced a $5 Million “Gold Card” visa for wealthy individuals to, more or less, buy their residency and, eventually, citizenship.
Videos of that announcement spread, with clips garnishing millions of views and thousands of comments. Most of the comments are ones you would expect for anything related to Trump, so I won’t rehash them.
I also won’t get into the political spectrum of this announcement either, because, frankly, I don’t need that headache. But I will say anyone clutching pearls and clamoring over how the U.S. is now for sale needs to take a step back and a deep breath.
Because this is nothing new. In the grand scheme of things, it’s nothing more than a rebrand. But let’s get into this “Gold Card”, why you shouldn’t worry, and, honestly, why it probably won’t pan out.
