Direct observations of the Earth’s climate are a modern invention and a product of sophisticated technologies. How about previously before this new technology has arrived? A common argument against climate change is the concept of ice ages, and how naturally the climate changes. Through analysis of the past, it’s possible to analyze this misconception, and also understand what’s in store for the future. Climate models are tools to help people understand the complexities and dynamic interactions within the Earth’s climate system. By using complex programs and mathematical equations, we can forecast the future to a reasonable degree.

Earth’s Past Climate

Through experts such as paleoclimatologists and other specialists, scientists are able to work together to find out what’s wrong with our earth and compare it with the past. A paleoclimatologist studies changes in Earth’s climate over its history. They reconstruct climate, using information from tree rings, rocks, ice, and sediments. Through this analysis, cycles of ice ages, mass extinctions, and other large-scale phenomena are easier to understand.
