Wasted time is the greatest paradox of the 21st century. We have access to unprecedented technology that is supposed to make us more efficient, productive, and organized, yet we also use that technology to waste time like never before.

People spend an average of 2 hours and 24 minutes on social media every day. Americans check their phone on average 159 times per day and spend 4.2 hours per day on mobile gaming. That’s more than one day per week. It’s crazy that we can afford to waste almost 2 months of our life every year, while we are still able to get some work done. Or are we?

Ask anybody who works a classic 9–5 job what the number one reason for wasted time at the office is, and they’ll almost always answer with one word: meetings. Again, technology is partly to blame here. We have access to so many tools and ways of sharing documents, we can send emails and messages to so many people at once, reschedule a meeting until the end of time… The result? 90% of meetings include people who have much better things to do than being in the room (or in the Zoom call), last twice the time they should take, and almost always have an unclear, unproductive outcome without a clear-cut action plan.
