How to Improve Your Focus
High achievers have the ability to focus for hours daily. If you are aspiring to become one of them, improving your focus is a must.
Here are four steps to help you focus for hours every day and catapult your productivity.
1 — Plan your tasks one day before
This helps you avoid decision fatigue. No more “what should I be working on?”
Make a list of detailed tasks so you can kick off the day working immediately. Make sure to break big tasks into smaller sub-tasks. Because nothing steals focus more than overwhelming tasks that have no clear start and finish points.
2 — Say no to distractions and interruptions
Distractions and interruptions are focus killers.
Before starting work, leave your phone, TV, tablets, and gaming consoles in another room. Leave open communication for emergencies only.
Use a website blocker, so you only have the relevant tabs open. Email, social media, chat tabs must stay close.
3 — Keep a minimal workspace
Make sure you work n a quiet place, such as an office room in your house or a public library.
Your workspace should have four items only: a table, a chair, laptop, a water bottle. That’s it. Any additional items — such as books, magazines, and food — can distract and make it more difficult to stay focused.
4 — Make hours-long focus a habit
Practice makes perfect. Focused work is an activity you should do daily. Here’s how to do it.
- Perform focused work at the same time every day.
- Work in a series of intervals and breaks. Otherwise, you’ll burn out very quickly.
- Plan the next focused work session after you finish your last task.
Your focus work session is now complete.
The world is filled with distractions. Yet, serious progress in any field is impossible without a healthy dose of daily focus. The techniques shown in this article help you focus for hours. Doing so can build your confidence, increase your productivity, and help you master any skill.
